When vehicle is cold not a problem after it warms up I cannot exceed 35 mph and my rpms shoot up to 3-4 thousand range. If I tap on the gas pedal it feels as though I have a sports engine, with very quick acceleration but then dissapiates.

Have you had your altenator checked, it could be that if it is going out
