Brakes problem
2000 Chrysler Town and Country 122,00 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
Last week I noticed a squeaky noise in my van when I was driving. It seemed to be coming from the drivers side (front) of the van, but I couldn't really tell. I brought it into the shop and told them to look it over. They couldn't hear what I heard, so I took the van home and drove it for another week, and continued to hear the sound now and then. Yesterday, as I was leaving work, I noticed the brakes were "squishy" feeling, so I took it back. Now, they are telling me that the rear wheel cylinder has leaked all over my brake shoes and I think it's going to be expensive. Was my squeak last week related to all of this and how could I have prevented this?

Hi:

First, relax. A wheel cylender is about a 25 dollar item plus labor to install. Honestly, it's possible that the noise came from there, but it doesn't see likely. Did the noise go away when you used your brakes? Did they check the front brakes?

Finally, there was nothing you did wrong or could have done differently to avoid a wheel cylender from going bad. They get old and wear out.

Let me know if you have any problems and I will try to help.
