I just replaced my A/C Compressor with a rebuilt unit purchased on-line. Compressor required me to add oil. I added about 6 oz of R-134a PAG 100 Refrigerant Oil to the compressor casing prior to installling. The old compressor did not have any oil left in it for me to measure how much to add to the new compressor.
Problem: When A/C is turned on and compressor clutch engages, the compressor makes an initial high pitched vibration sound which turns to a high pitched whine shound. Offending sounds increase with engine RPM. Sounds stops when compressor is turned off and clutch dis-engages.
Did I add too much oil to the compressor casing? Could that be the source of the noises I'm hearing?
