1998 Chrysler Town and Country how much will it cost me?

I've had this car for over 7 years and had no trouble with it, until last week that it started to make a noise, I took it to my mechanic and I am beign told that it's the transmission, he hasn't been able to locate one, so I am still waiting. How much can I expect my bill to be? Greatly appreciated.
