Horn blowing?

For the last month or so my horn starts blowing for no reason and continues for 5 to 10 minutes, sometimes beeping sometimes solid blowing. Sometimes while driving along. Once when I unlocked the doors. Once when I opened drivers side door (was not locked). Also stops for no reason (thank goodness)

I had same issue with my 2006 Sebring Convertible. It happened to me 2 days ago for the first time, and while i was sitting at a red light. Then again while i was driving on the freeway...just a constant horn blowing. After some experimentation, it appears that the horn can be stopped by pressing on the steering wheel horn pad. The quickest and cheapest fix is to pull out the horn fuse located under the hood. The problem is the HORN PAD and AIR BAG ASSEMBLY. Take your care to chrysler dealership....and let the technician know that the horn is going off randomly. If your under 36,000 miles it WILL be covered by warranty. My horn went off while I was driving and even in park. So they replaced by horn pad, air bag assembly and i had to pay nothing because of warranty. Good luck!!

My horn randomly goes off on its own, the fuse was replaced (it was burned out) and it still is doing the same thing... what do I do?

The horn in my 1988 Grand Caravan is operated with a ten-dollar relay that is turned on by a three-dollar switch. It works really well, but the manufacturers have found a solution where there wasn't a problem. Your horn is operated by a Body computer which talks to the Remote Keyless Entry computer. Computers are extremely unreliable, complicated, expensive, and unnecessary, but new cars are full of them.

If the horn was going off with a blown fuse, that was obviously not the horn fuse. Is there anything you can do to make it act up like turning or tilting the steering wheel?

Hello.....
As stated above, I have the 05 Sebring Touring, 2.7L, and for the past couple of days my horn started sounding really, really low to where u once heard it from 1/2 block away, to a transistor battery like sound from a toy car! When using the keyless remote, it normally sounds when locking and un-locking the doors and when the alarm is set! Now it sounds like beep, beep, beep , beep! What is the problem and how do I go about correcting this? Is this gonna cost me?

Defective horns are fairly common, but they normally short and blow a fuse so you would have no horn at all. In your case it may be not shorted but still not working. There are two, the low note and the high note. When the high note doesn't work, the low not alone will sound kind of sick. You will have to see the dealer for the correct horn with the mounting bracket that will bolt right onto your car. There are also universal horns that come with two mounting brackets. They require some customizing, but cost a lot less.

The horn switch is a membrane switch located in the airbag trim cover. One horn is located below each headlamp.

Unless it changed from the '90s models, the horns are to the right of the radiator, very well hidden. Typically one will short and the fuse will blow. If your fuse is okay, chances are the horns are too. A much more common cause of a dead horn is a defective clock spring. That's a wound-up ribbon cable in a plastic housing under the steering wheel. An additional clue is you will not hear the horn relay click when you press the horn button. As the ribbon cable continues to break, eventually the cruise control will stop working and the air bag light will turn on.

I have a 1997 Chrysler Sebring JX convertible. Both horns have stopped working. I assumed it was the fuse or relay, but the fuse is OK and the new relay didn't help. Can I assume that both horns just blew out together, or should I explore the wiring in the steering wheel. I'm reluctant to screw around with the center of the wheel, which contains an air bag. I don't want to set that off!

Help?

well if you want to take off steering wheel just make sure that the batt. is disconnected..... when you push down on SW a disc like piece contacts a little post that is spring loaded... it may not be contacting anymore.. no special tools needed to get this far but if you want to go deeper into s wheel special tools well make life a lot more easy..
Horns are grounded to frame so shouldnt be grounding... you can use batt. charger to test horns (charger should have jump mode to work)

They usually put them behind the front bumper. You can usually access them from below.
