How to replace the thermostat?

How do you replace the thermostat on a 2004 sebring convertible touring 2.7 v6? According to the Haynes manual, the water pump, etc need to be removed. However, if I follow the top radiator hose, it attaches right at the top of the engine and it looks easy. Any suggestions?

Hello,

The thermostat replacement on this vehicle will require removal of the belt and the alternator to create proper access to the thermostat housing.
You might have to take off the right wheel to have easier access to the components.

After you have access to the housing you will just have to take off those 3 bolts that is around the thermostat housing to get it out.
This can be done using simple hand tools
Remember to only work on the cooling system when the engine is cold.
