Hey mechanics,

Well I overfilled my tank two weeks ago and a day later the service engine light lit up. I don't think its coincidence and I think it has to do with that. The car was fine for the 2 weeks i had it. I changed the gas cap, its secured. What problems could it be and what can i do today to fix it? I dont think theres a leak,Should I go to autzone?I need a good answer i can work with!
Thanks for reading!
ps my car is in great shape for the mileage, well taken care of. donation for a good answer. Thanks gentlemen

You can try a self-diagnostic test. To activate self diagnostic program:

With the ignition switch in the OFF position, depress the TRIP and RESET buttons.
While holding the TRIP and RESET button turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Continue to hold the TRIP and RESET buttons until the word CODE appears in the odometer windows (about five seconds ) then release the buttons. If a problem exists, the system will display Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's). If no problem exists, the code 999 (End Test) will momentarily appear.
Post the results.

code scanner from autozone told me it was a big leak in the evap system. What can i do to fix this problem. How many problems could this mean.
A diagnostics previously told me I needed to replace ac/alternator dranything bad when i drive.ive.
Can that be the problem for service engine light?
Theres no issues with engine as far as I know because I dont see or feel anything bad when I drive it. Runs great. Some shaking, probally time in need new rotors.

oh a/c compressor drive/alternator drive belts
and poly rib belts i meant are on a list for my diagnosis..to be replaced.

code; Its p0455. Large evap leak detected.
Is there anything that I should check . Is my only option a smoke test to see for cracks?
Does it have to do with the vacum ? Also How much could it cost in repairs?
thanks for reading and helping.

I bought 1 gas cap after another, Now I have one with a lock. It is secured. The service engine light is stilll up. Since I did overfill my gas tank could I have messed up the vapor canister?
Its still po455 code, Do you think the canister would pop up on this code. If not since i took care of the gas cap maybe I should go to autozone and delete the code and see if it pops up again within the week.
What other things could it be if its not the gas cap.
thanks!

Yes any large leak in fuel vapor management system will set the code. Smoke machines are used to pump smoke in at 2psi or so, this simplifies finding leaks in hoses and canisters.

Its just a 3/8gas hose right?autozone, theyre like 3$ a piece... All they told me was they couldnt see it and i would have to drop the fuel filter because its above it. Just dont want to get the wrong hose. Also id like to replace all the hoses there. How many are there to your estimate so i can by them

Some are special hard line made of rigid plastic, others are regular fuel line hose, if its low pressure, use hose, if it's the hard line, that can also be bought at most part stores, along with the ends and the tool to install the ends.
