Heater blows cold

Find the thermostat and replace it and then come on back if needed.Also check to see if both heater hoses are hot when the car is sitting still/warmed up. If not you may have a partially restricted heater core that will only allow hot water through when the rpm's dare high enough to force it

The heater in my 02 convertible sterte blowing cold air then hot air and then cold air and continues. The heat is hot enough when its coming out but then teh cold air starts.

Try disconnecting your battery for about 10 min. this will reset the comuter to the factory setting.

My heater in my car will not heat up my car it only blows out cold air no matter how long I leave the car on. It does give heat only when the rpm goes above 3RMP. Its a 2002 chrysler sebring. please help me. What could be the problem?

It could be low coolant level.

That means nothing to me. I know nothing about cars could you explain a little better what needs to be done.

The coolant in the radiator. Open the radiator cap and check the amount of coolant in there. If that isn't the problem, go to the Chysler service provider that takes care of the car and see if the issue can be resolved through them.

For some reason my car only seems to have heat while the car is actually moving, once I come to a stop sign or traffic light the heat begins to cool off and stay that way until I start driving again. I recently had overheating issues until I took it to a nearby shop where they said something about "air in the lines" and "vaporlocking". I paid them $40.00 and the car did just great for about two or three weeks. Now I have no steady heat....although it's not overheating anymore. Please advise.

Assuming the engine is reaching normal temperature, feel the two heater hoses. They should be too hot to hold onto for very long. If not, remove the hoses at the engine and back flush the heater core with a garden hose.

Hi there I'd like some advice on a heat problem. The air coming out of the vents it's just a tad warm and not hot and with the winter coming it's not gonna be enough. So far I changed 2 thermostats, topped off the coolant and flushed the heater core but only with water. Besides changing the heater core what other ideas can you give me? Also what fluids can I use to flush again the heater core?

Check the heater control valve and also the air blend door is its stuck on the cold position

The heater in my car will only blow heat when I am driving it and I've noticed that it is very HOT. No heat when in park though. What do you think?

I have the same thing happen to my 2002 Sebring LX at 50,000 miles. The heater blows hot air only when I press on the gas but cold air when coasting or stopped at the red light. I think I will be taking it in for service soon. Any ideas out there would certainly help. Thank you.

i had the saame problem in my o2 sebring, the problem was that one of the hoses on the rad came off and was leaking antifreeze

Sebring convertible heater stops working when stopped at stop lights or any other time car is stopped. Works mediocre at best when car is in motion at a highways speed.

What is the problem and fix? What should it cost?

First off, check your coolant level.

Since this si my girlfriend's car, that was my first thought as well. The coolant level was/is fine.

Nest is (with that many miles), I would suggest thermostat replacement. I know that you said the coolant level is good, but how good/effective is your coolant? Is the mixture is 50/50 or do you have more water than coolant, or too much coolant and not enough water. Use an antifreeze tester to check the strength of your coolant. Something like this one.

Another thing you may want to experiment, try switching between "fresh air" and "recirculate". If the heater core is plugging up, you may not get enough heat either. The next thing is to perform antifreeze flush and refill, including the heater core. Let us know.

Next question is- is it difficult to get to the thermostat on the Sebring? I know on my experience with foreign cars (Mercedes and Mazdas) it has bee a snap.

What engine do you have? There are 4 different engines used in this vehicle. Look at your VIN, count from left to right. I need the 8th digit of the 17-digit number. It will be either X, G, U or H.

I was given this car and it has no heat. I changed the thermostate, flused all the rust out of the cooling system, R&R and cleaned the resev. There was still not heat. The system was so dirty, I thought the heater core may have been restricted. So I replaced the heater core. Still have no heat. The heater doors are operating properly. It almost seems like there is air in the system. Any suggestions

Pull rad cap jack up front car run fill as neseccary. Replace cap let cool then run again adding to resevior as needed.

The heater in our '01 Chrysler Sebring recently stopped working. It began a few days back~the heater ran cold whenever the car sat still. (Stop light, parked, etc. w/engine running.) However, it would blow warm/hot while it was moving.
What could the problem be??
(I may be wrong about the engine size, and wheel drive type. I'm fairly sure it's 4 cyl and 2-wheel drive.)

We have installed a new thermostat and flushed the radiator and we have no heat inside this car, it was working last winter with no problem to my knowledge.

I am seeing the same thing on my sebring.I've heard the water pumps break inside and the shaft spins,but not the impeller.Mine is"chirping" while running and overheats too.Does this sound familiar?

I replaced the thermostat in my 1997 Chrysler Sebring convertible. It had a warm weather thermostat is it. I put a winter thermostat is it. Now I get cool air when I turn the heat on. I can feel a little warmth, but it is very little.
I added antifreeze after I was finished to the holding tank and where the radiator cap sits. I have a 6 month old son and very little money what should I do? Should I drain the fluid and start over with the radiator fluid. The heater hoses are still warm so I don't think it's the Heater Core.

What do you mean by winter weather thermostat? Thermostat is rated by the operating temperature, what is yours?

first i had no heat and the coolant was leak, bought a new radiator cap and that took car of the leaking but now i still have no heat. whats the next step from here? i dont wanna buy a new thermostat and then it not be the problem.

First, is the engine warming up to the normal operating temp? If it is, make sure the coolant is full. Also, with the engine warm, the heater on high, check to see if both heater core hoses are hot.

Let me know what you find.

NOTE: Never open the radiator when the engine is hot. Allow it to cool off first.
