1998 Chrysler Sebring How do you check fault codes on 98 se

went to lunch ran fine
after work started it up sounds and and feels down on a cyl.. or 2
check engine lights on and flashing...
could this be a fuel filter?
bought car used an not sure if it was ever changed?
egr valve?
if i can read codes my give me an idea were to start..
