hi, my car was diagnosed by a mechanic as having a bad fuel pump..the car would turn over, but not start...i replaced the fuel pump, and now the car won't start..it is still turning over but wont start.there was only about a gallon of gas before i drained it, and i only put in about a galllon after the repair..does the car need at least a certain amount of fuel to start after a fuel pump repair? i'm nervous that i just spent all my money on a repair that was misdiagnosed...thank you.

Hi, when you first turn the key on, no crank, can you hear the pump run for a few seconds? Use a gage and check fuel pressure, some of the national brand autostores used to loan a fuel pressure gage. You can call and ask. I don't know if one gallon is enough to reach the pick-up for the pump?

You can also check voltage and ground for the pump motor, engine cranking, if you can reach the connector.
