2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser Timing Belt has been changed, now

2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser 4 cyl Automatic 83000 miles

We recently had the timing belt changed because we had to replace the water pump. Right after I drove the car off the lot, I noticed a slight idiling when I started to stop.
The check engine light has not come on. Could this be the result of putting the timing belt on wrong or a bigger problem that the mechanic did not see.

Can you elaborate on this a bit more, i am not sure as to what you mean here.

When I start to slow down and right before I come to a full stop the car will idle. Itr seems like it idles somwhere between slow down and full brake force. It runs perfectly when I am crusing down the road, and no check engine light has ever come on.
