Just changed the anti-freeze in my 2002 PT Cruiser.
There was about a Pint of very red oil floating in the coolant I drained out. The reservoir is stained bright red. I've looked through the manual and can't find anywhere there could be a connection between the engine cooling and the transmission or power steering cooling systems. (This is not a turbo).

The transmission oil level looks a little high, but doesn't seem "foamy". The engine oil looks good and the level looks normal (besides it is brown unless that turns red when exposed to Chrysler's coolant).

Am I missing something about how the coolant and transmission fluids could commingle? Or did some oil change guy manage to pour oil in my cooling reservoir?

Sounds like the transmission cooler inside the radiator is leaking internally. You will need to replace the radiator and flush the system.

But the PT Cruiser uses a separate cooler for the transmission fluid that is in front of the radiator. It's not buried in the lower radiator tank as in other cars.
