2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser Engine Shut Down

I was drive to a appointment and my engine oil light flashed and then my engine just shut down ....The engine would turn over like its trying to start, but it just want start.........I check my oil drip stick in which it had (NO) oil on the stick ....I put 4 quarts in and it still want start.....Whats Wrong can you tell me.....So do I have to take it to the Shop.....Help Need Car

Hi:
If the engine had no oil in it, you will need to have the engine checked. If it's trying to start, chances are you'll be ok; however, you may have caused internal engine damage.

But, it could even be a fuel supply problem.
