The check engine light came on yesterday, hooked up the scantool and it came back with P0601, Int Control Module Memory Checksum Error. I cleared the code multiple times, but each time it came back. Engine performance seems ok. I pulled the ECM out to check the connectors, but nothing looked wrong as far as burnt or broken. Right now I am looking for a local shop to check it out before I purchase a new one. Thought maybe you have run into this before. Read through the PTC forum, but found nothing relative.
Any help is appreciated, and if it is any good I will make a nice donation..

Hi there.

As you have found out already this is a fault with in the . from what i have been able to find out , it is an error in the fault gathering & memory of the ECU, i have never come across this before and neither has a few fellow techs in the trade. In my corner of the globe (Aust) we can get a known test unit to run in vehicles that have a faulty or suspected faulty ECU and only pay a small fee if it is returned (Undamaged) your spare parts supplier may have access to a similar service if you want your own ECU tested & repaired, before purchasing a new unit. I feel it is always better to have the original tested just to prove a point that the issue is in the control unit and not something feeding in a suspect volt-ave and causing a spike.
