coolant leak

Can you describe where the leak is. (in the front, near water pump, intake, head...)

Same problem, we are 1500 miles from home - in SW Florida. going back to my "old" mechanic. Thinking maybe I can buy antifreeze and make it home. Not sure what to do. 135K.

There is a coolant pipe that runs under the intake manifold which is seals by an O ring. The intake must be removed to replace the seal. Here is a guide that will give you an idea on what you are in for and some diagrams to help you get the job done.

The cars heat gauge started to climb and kept going up. Pulled over, by then the car was steaming from under the hood. Upon checking, found that the top radiator hose had blown off. Replaced the hose and refilled the coolant tank. This time the car overheated again. The coolant tank was empty and steam was coming out of it. Bought a new radiator cap at the auto parts store. Refilled coolant and put new cap on. Drove car a few miles and the same thing happened. The cooling fans are working.

Check your motor mounts they will cause the hose to come off every time you step on the gas. Check your thermostat it could be stuck closed. Tape a thermometer or use a infrared thermometer on the upper radiator hose. Let engine run and watch the temp gauge when it gets near full normal running temp hold on to the hose till you feel coolant going through the hose, remove your hand and watch the temp the thermostat should open at 195 degrees and be fully open at 215 degrees. If the gauge on the dash goes any higher than normal shut the engine off and replace thermostat according to directions

So I took my car to a repair shop and he told me my radiator hose had a hole in it. He replace it then called me back maybe four hours later and said my head gaskets was broken. I then had another guy look at it and there was no milky substance on the engine oil so he said it may not be my head gasket although the coolant container was really nasty, the coolant inside looked like a creamy Carmel what could be the problem it hasn't over heated so I'm confused

have th system pressure checked usually substances other than coolant are a good indication of a head gasket
