electrical problems

i have an 1983 Dodge D150 and i have a wire that keeps melting it is in the charging system cause when it breaks my truck stops charging i have had the altenator check and it checks fine i have replace the voltage regulator 3 times i have replace the battery and i have ran a wire from the voltage regulator to the motor so please help me :( :x :?

wire melts, sounds like something is drawing too much voltage, check wiring for bad or pinched wires.

i would also see what the output of the alt is , there is a voltage regulator behind the cluster if it is overcharging , do you know what wire is melting , from what location to what location???
