I'm not sure of anyone in the area. I would recommend calling around. Also, if there is a technical school for high school students in the area, call them. Many look for jobs to do for practice.

As far as the seals, they are not that hard to do. You need a valve spring compressor, air compressor, some basic tools, and a few hours.

I can try to explaine via the internet if you want. Just let me know.

Thanks for your reply....could not find any way to reply to you directly on this dumb website, however it's not that simple. With the guides having fallen down-the heads MUST be taken off.

The instructions to replace the valve seals are pretty clearly laid out with pictures on AllData.com

If you know of a simpler way-please let me know because it's going to cast a small fortune!

Mitsubishi is the one who should have called a RECALL on this matter but they're too cheap to do right by the customer...that's why Chrysler dropped their engines!

Mitsubishi should be ashamed of themselves!

I must have misunderstood. I thought all you needed were the seals and not the guides. Sorry... I reread your original post and now see it. Now I understand what you mean. I live near Pittsburgh, so I'm sorry, but I don't know of any schools near you. Here, there are several career and technology centers for high school students to learn different trades. THe district I live in has one with over 1000 students. THey have auto mechanics as part of their curriculum. I realize this may sound stupid, but call your local school district and ask if they offer this type of education to the students. If they do, and they should because not everyone can afford college, call them and ask if they would consider this type of work. THink about it, it's your tax dollars that help fund the school. Here, they take as many as they can get done each year. It is a good opportunity for the students to learn on a live project, and it helps out the community. It's worth a shot.

As far as the problem, again, I'm sorry I read it too fast. You are right. There is no easy way to do it. The heads need removed. If the shops are charging too much, you may be better off getting a good engine from a salvage yard with low mileage and a warranty.
