The car seems to run as normal. Replaced radiator and thermostat but did not use sealnt on the thermostat housing. I can see slow coolant leaks through the paper gasket at the themostat
Temprature gauge for engine stays low and sometimes ramps up to overheat position and it falls back rifgt away.
Heat inside intermittently works. There is white smoke continuously, more than usual.
I have heard this could be a blown head gasket. If it is, shouldn't the engine run badly?
How can I test for blown gasket? Can I replace head gasket at home. I am not a mechanic but I do a lot of things on my car.
I am constantly refilling the coolant.
I ma desperate, please help.
Could the leak at the thermostart housing be the calprit
Thanks
