This is a 1992 Chrysler Le baron 2.5L automatic, front wheel drive with 92,000 mi. the engine runs great and the transmission up shifts and downshifts perfectly every time. From a dead stop only under extreme heavy acceleration the car gives out 3 to 4 bangs from the front end and from there operates great. It doesn't pull to one side or surge. It doesn't do it with handbrake applied under load forward or reverse. (moving forward only). The trans. fluid was changed and no indication of any shrapnel or filings were found. The axle shafts look good visually at the joints and are in the differential as required, the motor mounts are also good. I'm thinking differential gear portion of the trans. or axle shaft joints internally could be at fault, any suggestions?
