car still sounds like it's out of gas

I had a bad fuel pump. I tested the voltage, and was reading 197 ohms at the pump. tested the pump, and it was bad. replaced the pump, and the filter. We now have pressure going into the fuel rail, but nothing coming out of the return. The car still sounds like it's out of gas, and/or flooding, and will not start. i'm not sure how to check the regulator switch, which sits right off the rail, going into the return line. I'm afraid i'm a little out of my league here.

Doesn't sound like you are out of your league because I think you found the issue.

First to start to prove this we need to test the fuel pressure. I understand that you have pressure because there is fuel to the rail, but we need to know what the pressure is.

I suspect the pressure is going to be high. If that is the case, then it is because you don't have the regulator doing its job. Basically, this needs to "regulate" the pressure by allowing it to build and then opening to all fuel to return them to tank. If it does not do this then you have high pressure, and it floods the engine.

At this point, I would change the plugs because they are most likely fouled and even if you fix the issue, it will not start the engine because it is a weak spark now.

Then check the fuel pressure.

In order to test the pressure, you are going to have to tee into the fuel line and most all test kits include the needed attachments to do this.

Please see the info below on the regulator. I suspect you are going to have to replace this and that will solve the issue.
