2000 chrysler voyager valve guides

After extensive research and advise I found out that the valve guides on these 3.0 liter Chrysler engines get loose and will slip and that is why it is using oil.

My engine is "rattling" at the moment.
My question is if these are the faulty valves or is there a bigger problem.
The rattling comes from the top of the engine so I assume this is the sound of the valves/guides?

I would like to get the valves fixed but don't want to put the money in if there are more bigger problems

It is using about 1 quart of oil per 1000 miles

Hey Ron,
Yeah big issue with the 3.0 motor. You are basically looking a valve/head job. The valve guide falls down a bit and the valve seals come loose.. The noise concerns me though as thats not a usual sign of the guide issue, just oil consumption. There may be larger issues, like you indicated and I would recommend further diagnosis. Let us know!

Thanks for the fast reply Chris,

I was afraid that that rattling wasn't good...without hearing or looking at it it is really hard to say what the problem is for a technician.

I'll have to take it to the shop and let them look at it.I'm afraid I am looking at expensive repair that will be more than the Kelly Blue book value :-(
