2000 Chrysler Concorde Oil Light

Did you check the level with the engine running? Do it again the engine turned off. I can almost say that they didn't put enough oil into the crankcase.

If you do have enough oil (checked with the engine off), you may need to have someone check the oil pressure.

Thank you for responding. The engine was off when I checked. Someone mentioned it could be the grade of oil used. I discovered the used 5w-30 with this last oil change. I usually use 10w-40. They thought I should change the oil, using the higher grade. Do you think that's a possibility? What about just adding an oil treatment?

5W30 was what recommended from the factory. But as you have used the heavier and thicker oil, you may want to switch back to 10W40 the next time. For now, you can add an oil treatment to your engine.

Thanks, I think I'll try an oil treatment before changing the oil. Since my oil is full, do I need to drain some of it before adding the treatment?
If I do change the oil, do I need a new filter? Do you think it could be as simple as sensor going bad? I am looking for the most inexpensive possibilities first.

If you wish to change the oil to what you are used to, you can re-use the filter.

It is also the possibility that the sending unit is going bad, but I would not replace it just yet, until we prove that switching to the thicker doesn't do the trick.
