1997 Chrysler Concorde Misfire Detected

Give the actual code numbers that you receive from the scan tool. In the mean time, here is the diagnostic for engine misfire.

The diagnostic works for P0300 through P0306. I kind of figured the code was P0305, for cylinder 5. So perform the diagnostic, concentrating on cylinder 5.

I have the exact same problem. 70,000 miles. Replaced all above. No luck. ??????

Thank you for your response Zackman. Actually, my mechanic has done the following...replaced the wires, plugs, injector, and tested compression. The engine light stays on and the engine idle is rough, although plenty of power with smooth acceleration. I am assuming both the engine light and rough idle are related, which may not be the case. I am also assuming P0305 is the trouble code as he indicated #5 was the issue. The diagnostic steps above are out of my competence since I lack the equipment although I was once a fair wrench. One thing I did notice is that the idle smoothed and the light went out when I filled the tank full with fuel. This happened two times. The rough idle and light returned when the fuel indicator reached the half way mark. I am thinking of having the fuel filter changed. My mechanic is thinking an intake manifold check. Again, thank you for your suggestions.

Tell your mechanic, before he performs the intake manifold, replace the fuel filter and check fuel pressure at the rail at the fuel rail.

I want to replace the fuel filter on my own. Will removing the fuel cap be enough to release the fuel pressure so I can replace the filter?

Gas cap removal is OK to release the tank pressure but not enough to remove the pressure in the line. Here is the instruction.
