i just finished changing my distributer cap and to do so I had to disconnect my throttle cable. when i was done and had everything all set up i went to start my car and as soon as i started it the engine started reving way up so i shut it off. i figured out that my throttle cable was holding my pedal floored. i messed with it a little bit and now when i start the car it revs up to about 2500 and holds. does anyone know what could be causing this? i know i looked at the pedal and if i pulled the pedal out to where it should be i can see about an inch of the cable sticking out. but out of everything ive read i cant figure out whats going on, i was thinking it was just an adjustment but i cant find anything on adjusting it anywhere including my chilton.
