I messed up my engine by driving with no oil. the valves are locked, and it has beeen sitting in the yard ever since about 1 year. Everything else on the care was working fine. do you think it would be worthwhie to spend about 2,000 on another engine versus buying another car? The body and interior are in very good condition.

IF I decide to get another engine, what kinds of things should I look out for, and what else should I be worried about with this car? Thanks

It's hard for me to say. If the car is in good shape otherwise, and you like it, then you may want to fix it. I always say, what can you get that is better for the price of the repair? Also, go to KBB.com to determine the value of the vehicle. That may help you make a decision.

As far as a new engine, before going to a salvage yard, check out the nationally recognized parts stores. Many of them sell rebuilt engines at good prices and they come with a warranty. If that doesn't work, just try to find one that has as few of miles on it as possible. Also, make sure the salvage yard will guarantee it is a good engine. The 2.5L is a great engine, so if you find one, chances are it will be ok.
