Hello my question is about my brand new chrysler 300 2007 model 2.7 liter v6 with under 200 miles. While stoped at a drive through I noticed a small noise that sounds like its from the transmission when I have my foot on the break and shift from park to reverse and vice versa. It is a small noise which sounds like the car is preparing to go back or forwards but should I be hearing this noise on such a new car. It last for aprox. one second and then the car is fine again. It sounds like a very very small grinding. Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

Completely normal.... I have a Sebring that does it, my 96 caravan did, my friends PT Cruiser does it, my mothers jeep liberty, and a friends 2006 Ram. All Chryslers do it. No worries.

I have a 96 Chevey lumina w/ 167,000 miles with a 3.1 engine (atomatic) ....When we are parked in a space and then put the shifter to reverse there is a loud scraping noise coming from the front of the car. Louder to the passenger wheel but still heard from the driver wheel. We've replaced brakes, rotors at last years brake change, calipers, bled brakes, replaced berrings, inner and outer tie rod. Had it aligned and investigated by a front end shop but no luck. It only makes this "Chabaka" whine noise when going from park to reverse. Once we go a few feet, it stops. What could be the problem?
