I would like to know where the ECM is located on the car, and how do you access it. What's involved, and how big a prodject is this. Also, Are remanufactured ECM's worth buying. I found a site online that claims to program the ECM's they sell with your cars VIN number so it will work. I've also been told that this is something only the dealer can do. Programing the ECM that is. Is this fix something a DYI mechanic can do on their own?

Hello,

The ECM/PCM is located under the hood on the drivers side just in front of the Power Distribution Box. And in front of that is the Transmission Control Module.

Yes you can do it yourself. You can order a reman put it in then take it to your deal and have them program it. Or have them program it prior to installing just remember to take your registration so they can get the vin#.
