2001 Chrysler 300 cant remove key

key wont go back to the off position to get the key out its like it doesnt realize the transmission is in park is this a computer problem or a mechanical one thanks charlie

A mechanical problem it will be. The shift interlock cassette will need to be replaced. The cable can only be adjusted once then if problems the interlock cassete needs replacement. Located in collum behind key tumbler must remove plastic collar.
