Gentlemen...
I can't begin to tell you how many tires my daughter's 300M has 'eaten' up in the past year!! Used, New... front, back... doesn't matter. At first we thought it was low air pressure, etc., old tire, etc. but now even brand new tires are going flat, and one even blew while she was driving. Could there be an issue with the chrome rims that were/are on the car at the time I purchased it for her (used) two years ago?? We cannot keep buying tires for this car at a rate of one every month or two! PLEASE HELP!!! (Also... if there's anywhere to get used, or just alloy or old aluminum rims vs. these chrome ones (I believe her tires are 17")... I would SO love to know that as well. And THANKS in advance for your help with this!! -Sylver-

I'm always loosing air in my 300m aswell. What I think you could do is find a set of new or used 16" rims. My moms Itrepid has the 16" rims on it, and the tire height is the same as my tires on my M.

find a local rim/tire shop and ask them if they have any "take offs" they are stock ones that someone left behind and can usually be had for a reasonable price

If you put brand new tires on this car, there should have been a warranty on these tires. Tire shops also offer road service warranties offers with the purchase of new tires that would pay for the repair of these leaks. I have this same car and have had a problem with the rims corroding and causing the seal between the rim and the tire to leak, but usually just at the end of the tire's life. The tire shop should be cleaning the rims before installing the tires.

I had the same problems with the original Firestone tires on my 1999 300M. Two tire shops told me it was due to corrosion that builds up on the seat area of the chrome rims. However, since I switched to Michelin tires, I have not had any problems. Make sure your tire shop inspects the riims for damage and cleans the seat thoroughly with a wire brush before putting on new tires. Or, go buy new rims.
