1999 Chrysler 300 Can't remove air filter to change battery

I have been trying for hours to remove the air filter housing so that I can change the battery. There is a pin on the rightside front that will not release when I pull up on it. I do not want to damage the housing. How can I get the air filter housing off easily?

Just in case anyone else ever finds this thread...

It removes from the pin straight up. There are two pins that go into the fenderwell or something, and they will just come out once you clear the pin that is towards the engine.

I put some oil on the pin and let it sit, grabbed it under front corner towards the radiator, braced on something else, like the engine, and just pull up. The cover is fairly strong and shouldn't break.

The answer above -- tug hard -- made me laugh after 15 minutes of sticking screwdrivers and hex wrenches down the little hole in the middle of that plastic pin. But it's the right one.

Also, before I found this thread I read on another site that you have to remove the right side wheel to access the battery. Not true -- just turn the steering wheel all the way to the right (as it says in the manual!).

Lastly, it's easier to remove the battery access panel from inside the engine compartment rather than pulling it out on the wheel side.
