Chirping sound

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com. The noise you described sounds like an accessory belt noise. Here is what I want you to try. Start the engine and open the hood. Pour a small amount of water on the accessory belt. If the noise changes or goes away, the belt is the problem. It could just be dried out and need replaced or loose.

If you find the belt is the problem, here are specific directions for replacement. Note: You only listed the vehicle as a "Wagon". I assume you mean the Esteem Wagon.

SERVICE AND REPAIR
GENERATOR BELT
WARNING: Disconnect negative cable at battery before inspecting and replacing belt.
INSPECTION
Refer to Drive Belt; Testing and Inspection; Procedures.
REMOVAL
Disconnect negative cable at battery.
Remove engine under cover (RH).
Loosen tensioner by turning the tensioner pulley clockwise.
While holding the tensioner and belt loose, remove belt.
INSTALLATION
Loosen tensioner by turning the tensioner pulley clockwise.
While holding the tensioner, install belt.
NOTE: Make sure that the belt fits each pulley's groove properly.
Install engine under cover.
Connect negative cable at battery.'
