2003 Chevy Venture rear end oil change

I was told I need a certan type of oil for this van. There is a noise in the rear end. I was told to change it. How do I do this and what type of oil do I use?

This is a front wheel drive vehicle. There is nothing in the back except a straight axle and wheel bearings.
