My wipers worked fine but occassionally would come loose. So I would tighten them. During a bad snow storm in the mountains they just quit working. Please help me find this out so I can get home.

I have had nothing but problems with my wipers on my 2003 chevy venture. The front wipers are set up like a Rube Goldberg with rods connected to rods connected to arms connected to motors. Arms that are supposed to slip in and out of place to allow the wipers to seat correctly, etc. An enormous headache. Furthermore, my rear wiper motor went out and made a horrible buzzing noise when I turned the switch to 'on' and didn't turn off until I took a wrench to the system and forced the motor to the 'seated' position.

Anyhow, now that my venting is taken care of - not sure what you mean by 'come loose'. But if they're totally dead now then either a fuse is blown, the wires are shot post-fuse but pre-motor, or the motor is dead. You can get a rebuilt motor for around 75 bucks at an auto parts store.
