2001 Chevy Venture Engine coolant leak

I have a coolant leak, near thermostat housing, can't seem to locate it for sure, has a metal housing that turns and extends toward front of vehicle about eight inches before connecting to upper radiator hose.

Am i correct in assuming that this is the thermostat housing? and if so, do you think it would be thermostat
gasket, or hole in metal housing? I know it is not upper hose, and don't think it is heater hose. Do you have access to any exploded views or schematics you could help me with?

the thermastat has a o ring that goes around the t-stat if it is bad it will leak. also there are two small 5/16 hoses that go to the throttle body under the throttle body that can leak.

Could also be the intake manifold gasket!

yes the intake gasket can leak and leave a puddle of coolant below the t-stat housing. the intake gaskets are cheap made and are made of silicone and plastic. the intake gasket if it is leaking will make the exhaust run hot by saying this i mean you can't hold your bare hand any closer than 3" from the tailpipe with it idleing. there is usually a white mayonaise fim on the bottom of the oil cap. if it turns out to be the intake gaskets save your paper work when you have it repaired as g.m. is involved in a classaction lawsuit over the intake gaskets on '96 through '04 3.4 motors.
