2001 Chevy Venture Bent valves and broken timing chain

My question is if the timing chain breaks on the GM 3400 V6 will it bend a valve or is there enough clearance to miss hitting them when out of time?

Or if you put an exhaust push rod on an intake port will it push the valve down so far that it hits the piston?

This would be classified as an interference engine,valve damage could occur .. or push rod could bend or break ! That being said it also could depend on when the chain let go.. was it on a start up or shut down? These are the times when you have a fighting chance of not doing damage to the engine, if it was when the engine was at a decent RPM, it will most likely hit. The push rod swap also probably wouldn't hit since the intake opens on the down stroke (Intake) of the piston and there is little to no valve overlap on these engines and the duration is very short. A cylinder leak-down test will let you know if any valves have been bent
