2000 Chevy Venture overheated, now stutters

My 2000 chevy venture overheated last night driving down the freeway. Its was low, but not out, of fluid. I was standing the waiting for it to cool down and heard a blowing noise from what I believe was the side of the engine. It seams to run fine now, exept, it stutters at higher rpms. No water in the oil, but could it have a bad head gasket? Or what? I know a little about cars, but definatly not a problem solving mechanic. Thanks

First of all you have a coolant leak, track it down because after you fix the van you don't want this to happen again. (be sure to check the heater hoses) Have the cooling system pressure tested in order to locate the leak.

The cylinder heads are probably warped on your van. (caused by overheating) Have a shop do a cylinder leakage test to verify this. This test injects compressed air into the cylinder with the piston on TDC. The
place(s) where the air esapes identifies where the problem is located and gives very good insight as to the problem.
