Two days ago I noticed a burning smell coming from
my engine. It smells like burning rubber or wax. I checked my belt and a few other things and noticed that there was NO coolant in the well! The low coolant light never came on. I filled it back up with coolant and the smell is still occuring. I am taking it in tomorrow to have it looked at but would like a little insight before I go in. Someone told me that it could possibly be that the head gasket is either rotted or has shifted which is causing the coolant to leak into the engine and that is what is causing the smell. Is there anything else that it might be?

probably not the head gasket. it could be your intake manifold gasket, this is very common. hope this helps
