Noises problem
1999 Chevy Venture 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 210K miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
There is a fairly loud ticking noise on start up which continues until engine is warmed up (approx 5 min.).
Could it be sticky lifters and if so how big a job is it to silence them.

You have enough miles on the vehicle to have alot of wear on engine components. This wear will allow the oil to bleed out of the system and back into the oil pan when you shut the engine down.

Useing an oil filter that has an anti drainback valve in it would help on start ups as the main lines cannot drain back through the filter and oil will still be up in the main lines when you start instead of in the pan. Fram Tough Gard, Pure 1, and Mobile 1 filters have this feature. Don't by cheap it costs more in the end!!!
