1998 Chevy Venture difficulty shifting out of park when par

I have a 1998 Chevy Venture LS Extended Mini Van.
I have been having difficulty shifting out of park when parked on an steep incline. On a flat surface I simply depress the brake pedal and shift out of park with no problem. However, when I am parked on an incline for more than 1 hour the shifter will not move out of park. So far I have been lucky to shift it after several attempts but I fear that one time it will not budge. What could be the cause? Also, what should I do if I cannot get it out of Park. I have noticed that the brake pedal also gets low when I am on an incline and could cold whether play apart.

Also, what might be the expense of this repair?

parking on a steep incline can cause this because the whole weight of the vehicle is on the parking brake pin, and after a while of setting the pin will be quite jammed, you may have a pin that is a bit worn or not lubed and is sticking.

try this the next time you park on an steep incline. keep your foot on the brake put it in park keep your foot on the brake and set the emergency brake then let off of the brake pedal. that way the emergency brake will be holding the weight of the van. when you get ready to go crank it up. then put it in gear then release emergency brake. gonna work a whole lot better .
