1995 Chevy Van Rear heater control valve

There are two ways to replace it, one is with recreational package the replacement is 115.00 dollars.

Or with one that is not recreational. 15-20 dollars.

I would use a hose clamp to clamp the hoses, this saves you from draining and refilling the system. Usually there is a brackett attached to it, remove the hoses, bolt secring the brackett, and remove!

Thanks for the quick reply!! Since the two valves you show are so different, I assume they are not interchangeable. My valve looks exactly like the one with the metal tube...the other one has one too many hose connections for the setup I have. If they are interchangeable, which extra hose connection would I block?

Also, is there anything major under the hood I have to remove to get that long tube version out of the engine compartment? Actually, I could cut the old one, but I'd appreciate knowing what to remove to be able to install the new one, if that's the one I must use!!

These are NOT interchangeable! One is recreation package and one isnt. You may need ramps or a lift to get at it...other than that do like I said, clamp the hoses to avoid draining the system...

Thanks Merlin 2021...got it out this evening! Had to pull it out through the bottom at the right front wheel well. Thanks for the tip to clamp the hoses...saved a lot of nuisance work. Hope I can get the new one in the same way.

I'm aware this thread is crazy old, but I can't find that heater valve to get a replacement. This mystery leak has led me on a chase for months only to find that the valve I need can't be found online. Please help a brother out!!
