2005 Chevy Uplander Vibration on breaking

I'm having a problem with my front rotors, when breaking, my car shakes so bad it has knocked my steering column loose. I've read that this is a common problem with the Uplander, that the rotors put on this car are too small to handle the weight of the vehicle. I asked the dealership but they said all they could do was resurface the rotors at my cost (even though I have the extended warranty). I've also read that you can order larger rotors without changing the calipers. Can you give me a part # or where to purchase these rotors please?

Hi there,

you can't fit larger rotors with standard calipers as the rotor clearance is not sufficient , and i doubt that there are any over size rotors anyway, i have not heard of this, you will be better off having them machined.

I've heard of people having their rotors machined up to 4 times on these Uplanders. I'm hoping someone see's this that has replaced the rotors with better one's than the stock rotors and replies. Thank you for your response though.

Hi there,

Ring your local work shop and ask about aftermarket standard rotors, i am not sure what brands you may have there, but here in Aust we have similar problems with local Ford passenger cars and often after market rotors are preferred as a more permanent fix, worth a few phone calls.
