Brake Problem

I have a 88 silverardo with 193000 and replaced the front pads last week (they were pretty rough) in any event, I am now unable to go more that 5 or 10 miles and the wheels heat up real bad, cant even move the wheel when I jack it off the ground and try to spin it. i have taken the calipers off 3 times, greased the slides put them back together but no help, still heat up, the pads dont back off. Any suggestions ??

next time it locks up, break the bleeder screw loose to see if the brakes release. if so, replace the brake hoses. if not replace the calipers.

Hi, well I replaced both calipers and it still heats up, I then tried what you said and they released, before I replace the hoses could you tell me how both would go at once

Hi, well I replaced both calipers and it still heats up, I then tried what you said and they released, before I replace the hoses could you tell me how both would go at once

Sounds to me you got a problem with youre Master cyl, If youre brakes heat up, Like the master cyl is not allow the brakes to release, Just light drag. Also hows the condition of the rear brake shoes?.

The rear shoes are OK, I changed the master about a year ago, it just seems funny that everything was fine until I put the new pads on, when I squeezed the calipers back (after 10 years) something had to go wrong. any chance the metering valve is bad or does that effect all 4 wheels. the rears have no problem

both hoses won't go at once, it's just a good idea to change them in pairs so you don't need to worry about the other acting up later.

Ok, Thanks, so would you say it is the Master Cylender, Fluid spirts out when I open the bleeders and the wheels unlock

no, just the hoses. what happens is the material inside the hose will peel away and act as a check valve, allowing fluid to pass through when pressing the pedal and not allowing it to return when the pedal is released. and by you telling me the wheel turns after breaking the bleeder loose means you have a bad hose.
