back up lights

i have a 1984 chevy truck half ton and the back up lights don't work.there is no power at the bulb socket. can i wire them directly to the fuse block??

Not a good idea, did you check the reverse switch on the transmission. A lot of times that is the problem.

Could be the problem, you could try this follow hot from the switch and see ware it goes, I believe it needs a switched 12v power supply to the trany backup switch, maybe you can do something there.
