My son-in-law's screw up. I would like to put in 2-3 quarts of oil but at the same time add a GOOD sludge remover additive - then drive it for a couple days, drain it then refill it with a good grade of oil. There is some lifter clatter right now and hopefully no bearing damage but I want to quiet the lifters first to see if it runs quiet after the full oil change. Do you know of a good product to use to clean up the sludge? We have a good NAPA dealer in town but I would like your opinion first.

Hi there,

Any of the main brand engine flush agents will be ok, first do an oil change and use just a cheap general purpose oil, that is the correct grade for your engine, add the flush and follow the instructions, re drain and replace filter with quality oil and a new filter, this should do the job for you.
