2003 Chevy Truck key will not turn and shift is locked

Hello, have you tried gentle turning the steering wheel,from left to right to the stops and then try turn the key?

Reply to your question the Steering wheel is not locked an you can turn completely to the right or left. Only the Shift will not release so you can not put it a different gear it lock in park and the key will not turn.

When you put the key in all the way the little bell sound
ding like when it warns you that the you have left the keys in the ignition

I have a remote starter and can start the car but the motor will shut down the motor when you put your foot on the brake just like it suppose to.

I ave a 2003 1500 HD 4 wheel drive I don't know the size of the engine but it an 8 cylinder

Hello I have attached some troubleshooting info for you. If the key is not bent as it says and I would check that really well, then my guess is the ignition lock cylinder control actuator. I believe that is why it won't shift. I f the steering wheel is still locked it shouldn't shift. Hope this helps.
