You bet it's hard to find...if it where easy anyone could do it! Problem is it could be anything from a bad ground somewhere to a short someplace in the harness. This is a hands on problem for a good electrical guy, Now how much do you love the truck? Electrical shops charge about $90.00 per hour!
Start by replacing the negative battery cable. The other thing is has this truck ever been stolen?

I have seen strange problems with electrical when little steel chips get in the wires in the column, but I've only seen that in recovered srolem cars! So far!

Tahoe V8 C&K 100K. Car had been working fine, one day going to school it got hot and the Temp Gauge pegged. Checked the water pump, cleaned radiator out and replaced the thermostat and ECT sender. Resistance seems to change OK on the ECT (checked unplugged) as engine warms up, but NO indication on the gauge in the instrument panel. When you crank over the car on initial start, the gauge will peg, then drop to lowest position and sit there.

Went to the library and the electrical diagram shows a connection from the sender to the TP, but don't
know how they interact. How could I check?
Any chance we blitzed the VCM with the once hot temperature? Would appreciate your help as I have to use my parents car to get to school until I can get my Blazer running.
