Engine Cooling problem
2000 Chevy Truck V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Why would the top end of the radiator get extremely hot but the lower end stay cool to the touch. Top hose gets very hot but the lower hose can be touched with the bare hand. The thermostat has been replaced. The radiator has been replaced because it was thought to be plugged with corrosion. The problem continues. What else can I try? Could the heator core be playing any part in this problem?

The hot water comes out of the t-stat housing, through the top hose,& into the radiator. The water gets cooled, goes out of rad.& into the engine through the bottom hose. Since your bottom hose stays cooler than your top hose, the radiator is doing its job&cooling the water. Watch your temp guage to see if you have an overheating problem.
