Tonight while driving it would seem not to shift, mostly at slower speeds (I didn't take it over 45). I've experienced slipping before, but this was the opposite. The best I could describe it was like being in one of the lower gears (3, 2, or 1 - it's an automatic).
We've had the car for 4 years now. We've never had any work done on the transmission. We've been pretty vigilant about changing the oil, probably about every 4000 miles. Our former mechanic (we've moved) would occasionally fix minor issues with the car. It was given a tune up before moving.
Is it possible that this might just be low transmission fluid? Something else (not transmission related)? If worse case scenario, could someone ballpark the cost of replacing the transmission?
Thanks.
