Exact same thing happened to me traveling home after holidays, 2002 5.7 starter flys out in p or n... later that same trip, starter flys out also in d123; this burned out the starter... new starter flys out also, but now only in p or n. I have not solved this one yet...
My understanding is that the only components involved here are ignition switch, starter, starter relay, and Park/neutral sensor.
Can anyone shed light on this?
