I have replaced the thermastat 3 times (190 degree)changed water pump, flushed radiator, confirmed hoses free of obstruction. With radiator cap off and fluid level at top of radiator thermastat will not open when engine warms up, it goes to 240 and dumps radiator. three months ago I removed the center of a new thermastat and reinstalled, engine runs at 100 degree, you can see flow in radiator with cap off,no leaks, but it is now winter and I need a heater, I just installed another new thermastat and it boiled out the water at around 240 degrees,.
Question: Why is the thermastat not opening?????
Help I am freezing!!!

Hi:
I would say a bad t-stat, but you've been through too many of them. Are you sure you are not placing the t-stat upside down? If you are, it won't open.
